What we're building
Kāinga Ora has a range of small, medium and large-scale redevelopment projects underway which will deliver different styles of housing to meet contemporary demographic demand.

Kāinga Ora is renewing a big chunk of our aging housing stock, and making more efficient use of its land to increase the pace and scale of housing supply to build modern, warm and dry homes for people in need of housing.

More homes – great neighbourhoods
The largest urban regeneration programme in New Zealand's history. We use New Zealand's precious land well, deliver quality homes quickly and build communities with a sense of belonging.

The Regional Housing Programme makes the most efficient use of our land to build hundreds of new warm and dry homes, to meet the demand for more social housing across New Zealand.

Working together to take a fresh approach to supportive inner city living. Kāinga Ora will be redeveloping its well-known site at 139 Greys Ave in central Auckland.

To help meet the need for housing for people in Wellington, we’re building 381 homes in inner city Mount Cook, Wellington at Arlington Street and Rolleston Street.

Kāinga Ora and the Department of Corrections are strengthening their existing building partnership even further by agreeing to build up to 100 new homes over the next five years.

Kāinga Ora’s focus on building new homes means that we’re deploying a variety of housing styles and sizes to make best use of our land holdings, meet contemporary demographic demand and ensure those most in need are housed appropriately.
