The newly completed Border Rd homes comprise two, three, four, five and even six bedrooms and are a mix of terrace, duplex and stand-alone homes.

Project manager Matt Stowers explains that 20 of the homes meet the Kāinga Ora standard for full universal design, meaning they are suitable for people with accessibility issues.

Matt is particularly proud of the build, which took 25 months to complete including the earth works.

“At 47 homes, this is the biggest site we’ve delivered in Henderson this year– it’s like a little village.  It is great to have been able to replace 17 older homes that that were past their best with new and modern homes, and to know that so many more whānau will have a place to call home.

“The open outdoor communal spaces really add amenity value to the complex and emphasise that village feel,” Matt says.

The homes were built by Kāinga Ora build partner Signature Construction Ltd, and Matt says they worked tirelessly to finish the build in spite of the disruption caused by major Auckland weather events.

Neighbours and other members of the community recently attended an open day to check out the new homes.

“It was great to have the community finally getting a chance to see what we’ve been working on and to be able to share a bit of excitement.”

Kāinga Ora teams are currently working on matching the homes to eligible customers and whānau will move into the homes in stages.
