Neil from Nelson –

When Neil was growing up on a farm in Golden Bay, his parents instilled in him a core value: re-use anything you can and try not to let anything go to waste. Several decades later, and Neil still has a passion for minimising waste and volunteers his time to help people connect their unwanted items with someone who can give them a new lease on life.

Leana from Palmerston North –

Leana’s passion for growing kai was given to her by her late grandfather. He inspired her to share the love for growing kai not only with her children, but also with her wider community. Leana always grew food in her own garden, but in 2022 she decided to transform her front yard into a communal garden that both her whānau and neighbours could enjoy.
