We are lodging Resource Consent with Hutt City Council, marking a significant step towards the creation of 40 quality homes for Lower Hutt.

This project is part of our ongoing work to help meet the need for more homes in the Hutt Valley area. Since 2017, we've already built about 160 homes in Lower Hutt, and we have plans for another 550.

The planned homes will serve both current and future residents, incorporating community suggestions received over the past three years. "We've meticulously designed these homes, focusing on the needs of future residents and the community at large," stated Vicki McLaren, Regional Director Greater Wellington Region.

The journey from our initial proposal to the current development plan has been thoughtful and collaborative. We'd like to say a big thank you to the local community, Mana whenua, and different groups who've helped us get this far.

With the plans well underway and being lodged for consent, we're excited about the future. "We're confident that we're laying the groundwork for a housing solution that resonates with the needs of the community, mana whenua, and families in need of a home," added Ms. McLaren.

The new homes will be warm, dry, and safe. Some will also be specially designed so they're easy for anyone to live in, no matter what their physical needs might be. We're also planning a community space, to help make the area even better for everyone.

This is a significant step for Kāinga Ora and the Wainuiomata community. We look forward to the positive impact these homes will bring and remain committed to keeping the community updated throughout the journey.
