Cyclone Fili is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to many parts of the North Island on Tuesday and Wednesday 12 and 13 April.

Metservice has issued severe weather warnings(external link) for Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Tairawhiti and Hawke’s Bay.

Some simple things you can do to prepare now:

  • Secure trampolines and outdoor furniture
  • Charge your phones and devices in case of a power cut
  • Store water if you rely on a pump
  • Stay out of the water as Cyclone Fili will be accompanied by large waves and the risk of flash flooding in rivers and streams

If your home or property is damaged during Cyclone Fili, call our Customer Support Centre on 0800 801 601. Please note, that we may be experiencing high call volumes. If your query is not urgent, you can contact us via MyKaingaOra or email enquiries1@kaingaora.govt.nz.
