Sustainable finance
Supporting the wellbeing of New Zealanders, including sustaining and growing intergenerational wellbeing, is central to the Kāinga Ora purpose.
Every day, Kāinga Ora works to provide public housing and contribute to the wellbeing of the customers living in our homes. We provide warm, dry and safe homes, but we also work with our customers to help them live well in our homes, with dignity and stability, in connected communities.
Our success can be defined by six outcomes:

In order to achieve these outcomes, Kāinga Ora has raised Wellbeing Bonds to fund eligible portfolios of sustainable activities, focused on delivering housing and urban development projects. Wellbeing Bonds are a use of proceeds instrument that falls under the Kāinga Ora Sustainable Finance Framework.
Sustainable Finance Framework
The Framework’s purpose is to align our social and environmental commitments with international sustainability bond standards.
The Framework describes how Kāinga Ora has financed projects and expenditures through Wellbeing Bonds.
The framework is updated periodically as the sustainable finance market continues to develop over time.

Sustainable Finance Impact Report
The purpose of the Impact Report is to provide transparency to bondholders and other stakeholders on how our bond proceeds are used and the impacts they are having, in line with the requirements for green, social, and sustainability bonds established by the ICMA.
More broadly, the report explores our sustainability journey, with a focus on recent developments in this space. We report on our set of impact metrics as well as more qualitative impacts, described through case studies.
We release an Impact report on an annual basis for bond proceeds raised in that period.
