Whānau will wrap up the year by spending their first Christmas in one of nine recently completed Kāinga Ora homes in Blenheim.
A new development in Mayfield includes 3 two-bedroom homes and one three-bedroom home. In central Blenheim, 2 two-bedroom homes and 3 three-bedroom homes are now complete.
Julia Campbell, Regional Director Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast, says the new homes are great news for customers who are expected to move into them this week, including eight families who have been on the social housing register and will now have a stable place to call home.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer people a new home in time for Christmas. Our teams have been working closely with the people who will be moving in and will continue to support them as they settle into their new homes and community,” she says.
After blessings by local iwi this week, the community was given the chance to look through the homes before customers move in.
Construction began on the homes in Mayfield in February this year and on the central Blenheim homes in April this year.
