Bay of Plenty region
To deliver more warm and dry homes in areas of high demand, Kāinga Ora is replacing older state houses with a greater number of new and modern homes, and partnering with developers and others to build on new land.
Bay of Plenty housing developments
Around 1,000 new homes are in planning, contracted or underway in the Bay of Plenty and expected to be completed in the coming years.
Community engagement
Keeping neighbours and the wider community informed during housing developments is important to us. In the Bay of Plenty we do this by:
- Delivering letters to neighbours to let them know what is planned near them
- Having interactive maps which show how many homes are planned, size and height, and expected completion
- Holding drop-in sessions so people can speak with us in person, and learn about:
- How sites are identified for new housing
- Design, planning and construction processes
- How people are placed into homes, and maintenance of the houses
- How Kāinga Ora supports customers to live well in their homes, as part of their community.
- Putting information signs up at sites where homes are under construction.
